Known as ‘The City of Sails’ Auckland has one of the world’s largest cruising grounds right on its doorstep.

The Hauraki Gulf has over 50 stunning islands, with dozens of beaches, wildlife reserves, regional parks and shipwrecks, the Hauraki Gulf is a vast adventure playground just waiting to be explored.

You’ll travel on a privately chartered modern sailing yacht with experienced and knowledgeable local skipper who will take care of everything.

Lean back and enjoy the ride or be more hands on and assist the crew.

01

Auckland - Hauraki Gulf

Today you will be met by REST New Zealand Tours and transferred to Charter Link where you will be greeted by your skipper.

Following your checking-in an extensive briefing will be given on your vessel, including navigation, anchoring, safety rules and practical boat handling. The brief will also include information on what you can expect to see and experience during your cruise.

This afternoon your adventure starts.

02

Days 2 - 4 Hauraki Gulf

The following highlights and activities are examples of what you may experience during your cruise (subject to changes). Your skipper will suggest the itinerary on a daily basis ensuring you will get the best possible experience out of your cruise. Your itinerary will depend on weather and sailing conditions, season, your skipper’s personal preferences as well as your own preferences - wherever possible.

Walk to the summit of volcanic Rangitoto Island.

Anchor at Motuihe Isand, swim, walk and enjoy dinner and the sunset.

Visit Waiheke Island: Peruse the arts and crafts of Oneroa and taste amazing local wines. Sail to one the many bays on offer, Garden Cove, Owhiti Bay and Hooks Bay. How about some fishing?

Depending on weather, you may even make it over towards the eastern shores of the Coromandel Peninsula.

Kawau Island is a true gem and worth a visit. Enjoy safe swimming in one of the tranquil bays, walk to the ruins of an old copper mine built in 1841 or visit Mansion House, a historic homestead of the Governor of New Zealand during the late 1800s.

Highly recommended also is a visit to Rakino Island. Another picturesque spot ideal for swimming, fishing or enjoying a romantic dinner.

05

Hauraki Gulf - Auckland

Around midday on Day 5 of your Sailing Safari you will arrive back in Auckland.

Farewell your skipper and take the 10 minute ferry ride from Bayswater back to downtown Auckland.
